keeping old passport

Normally for passport renewal, you turn in your old one and then receive a new one. What about when you lose one, or "lose" one as it has really neat memories and stamps and you want to keep it forever. Can you just say you lost it?

Surely you get the old one returned? Ours are.

Hi Art,

They send you back your old one.

I think it's punched to show that it is no longer valid.

I have all of my old passports. I don't recall having to say I "lost" them...

I have all my old passports. The US punches a couple of holes in it....but I still got it!

My kids are 13 and 15 and filled up their first passport (which they got at about 7 and 9) just before they expired and both need new pages added - just 2 years into their new passports! They are going to go into their scrapbooks!

Thabks Ira and everyone, Was misinformed. I was told they keep the old ones and mine will be up in about a year. Just planning ahead.
