Yes, we still have more museums to visit. We didn't make it to the Musee Carnavalet, for instance, or to the Branley, and hopefully the Piccasso Museum will be open when we return.

Photos are now up! http://www.marlandc.com/paris-2014.html

A number of them show the rain we experienced pretty vividly.

Wonderful pictures! I love the way you arranged them.
Great report too. Glad you enjoyed your trip!

simpsonc510 May 24th, 2014 01:51 PM

Wonderful pics. But then I knew they would be. I had a sneak peek on FB!

Kathie May 24th, 2014 01:52 PM

Thanks, chutney and Carol. Full credit goes to Cheryl for the photos and the website. So glad you enjoyed them.

Enjoyed your trip report and the gorgeous pictures. Thanks!

Your report is getting me excited for our autumn journey. Nice job! Merci.

Love the photos, but a definite "why am I here and not there" effect....

TPAYT May 24th, 2014 03:05 PM

ok, so I followed your trip report from beginning to end, and the photos blew me away.
We've been to Paris many times and have hundreds of photos, but the one place that always gives us a challenge to photograph is the Medici Fountain in Lux. Gardens.
=D> Your photo was fantastic!

It sounds like you had a wonderful adventure.

As for us, we are getting older. MDH read a book called "Aging Well" a while back and there is a line in it that I live by. It reads-----"My wife says, a year shall not pass without going to Paris!" I have a feeling that you will make this your new goal.

Thanks for taking the time to post.

Loved reading your report and fantastic pictures.

Am just starting to plan the first Fodor's trip to Paris for a haircut which will hopefully be September 2015. I have always stayed in the 7th but am now looking at other areas. Would you please tell me what interested you the most to pick the Marais and Latin areas for your next adventure?

Kathie May 24th, 2014 04:02 PM

So glad we can take you all along on our trip to Paris. Thursdays, I have the "why am I here and not there" effect and we haven't been back a week yet!

TPAYT, what a lovely compliment! Thank you. And I love the quote... words to live by.

Benita, we picked the Marais and the Latin Quarter simply from how it felt to walk in them. Both have plenty of cafes, plenty of places to sit and just enjoy being in Paris. However, if we are still burning Marriott points, we might stay at a Marriott again. Free is really hard to beat. I forgot to mention how wonderfully quiet (and large) our room was at the Marriott Champs Elysees.

I love the photos! I also love the way you organized them by category. I like to get a theme going when I take photos. My last trip to Paris one of my searches was for graffiti, it wasn't hard to find. I don't go again until March 2015. Your report and photos whet my appetite.

Love the report and love the photos. I completely agree with chutney & opaldog--the organization and presentation are wonderful. Kudos to Cheryl for doing such a great job with your site! And, the glowering clouds truly adds drama to many of the photos -- so if the weather wasn't perfect, you sure made the best of it!

Funny, I have a TR on the board from 5 years ago in May titled, "It may be grey and rainy, but it's Paris..".

Thank you for the wonderful report-- it's been really fun following along.

The pictures are excellent, and you seem to have had a great time. The prices of most of your meals are obviously out of the question for a vagabond such as myself.

Whenever someone posts an extensive trip report like this one, it always makes me think "oh, if they liked that, they should have gone to see this as well..." So I can think of so many things that you need to see during a future trip.

Kathie May 25th, 2014 07:58 AM

kerouac, I will look forward to your recommendations for future trips. You can even add them here if you'd like.

Yes, we did splurge on meals, but since it was only one meal a day it was do-able for us.

Hanuman May 25th, 2014 08:10 AM

Great report Kathie and wonderful pictures Cheryl!

Did you find any wine you like?

rhkkmk May 25th, 2014 09:42 AM

great report as usual..

LL is SUCH A BORE!!!

Kathie May 25th, 2014 09:43 AM

Thanks, Hanuman.

Did we find any wine we liked? lol, of course. We drank a very nice vintage (2004, I believe) Drappier champagne several nights, and we had a lovely Chateau Cordet Margaux 2010 a couple of evenings. We liked the Margaux so much that I emailed my wine guy to see if it is imported into the US - it is not. We regret we didn't bring a couple of bottles back with us.

Love the organization of your fabulous photos.

paris1953 May 25th, 2014 02:10 PM

Terrific trip report! And your photos are lovely and fascinating! Thank you for taking the time to write about your experience. When is your next trip???

<Alice, the cat, prowling through the cemetery waiting for Gertrude.>

I went there hoping to see Alice! Loved that book. I was so happy to see I could pin your pictures. You did a great job.
