Kastelruth day trip to Austria: Salsburg or Innsbruck?
Title says it all. If you were thinking of taking a day trip to Austria while staying in Kastelruth, would you drive the extra 1 1/2 hrs to Salsburg (or is there anywhere other than Innsbruck that you would recommend)?
|
The simple answer is no. But my primary reaction is "Why would you stay in Kastelruth--a spectacular Tyrolean village in the Dolomites which is a gateway to scenic drives, hikes and alpine villages--and want to drive to large, far-away Austrian cities on a daytrip?" Plenty to do and see nearby. Paul

I second Paul's post.
Couldn't agree more - stay in the Dolomites :) (- that's why I'm off there next week ;) Steve |
Hi C,
It's 3 hr to Fuessen and Ludwig's castles. Have you considered visiting Northern Italy? ((I)) |
Thanks for the opinions.
Ira, we will be starting at Lake Como, then the Dolomites, then Verona and lastly Venice. Paul, and Steve, the only reason would be to visit something historical, since, as you point out, culturally, it won't be too different from the Dolomites. So there is nothing in Innsburck worthy of the trip? Have fun, Steve, and I expect lots of advice when you return! Steve / CltLwyr |
I think Salzburg is a much more interesting city to visit than Innsbruck. But I agree with other posters who suggest staying in northern Italy instead of trying a day trip to Austria.
