Karlovy Vary

I am planning on staying from a thursday(august 31) to Monday(sept 4.{.. was thinking of going to Loket to see the castle, getting massages and maybe renting a bike? is that too much time?

also, any spas to recommend? also there was a museum of special societies. has anyone been to this? is it in English and worth the visit? thanks

I was there for a day and that was enough - nice faded old spa once where rich and famous and royals gathered. Suffered under commie rule but spruced up now. But if going for a spa experience yes you may enjoy relaxing.

anyone else familiar with Karlsbad oops (name when Germans ran the show) I mean Karlovy Vary?

Been there. No spa fir me. Half a day was more than sufficient.

We spent 2 nights in Karlovy Vary, which gave us a full day. We made a spa appointment when we arrived, and really enjoyed it. We enjoyed walking around the city. Architecturally, it is very different from Prague and Cesky Krumlov. I remember taking a cable car (I think) or an outdoor elevator? To the top of the mountain/hill for some pretty views of the city.

We also purchased cups & walked around the city drinking water from the different springs. Some were sweet, some were a little salty, etc. It was fun and different from what we usually do.
