Kaliningrad during the World Cup

Hi - my adult daughter and I have tickets to the World Cup in Kaliningrad next June. I have flight to Moscow and hostel in Moscow booked. I am now hurrying to book our time in Kaliningrad as things are booking fast and I'm sure once the draw happens on the 1st everything will go. So I haven't had a lot of time to research what we want to see in Kaliningrad - we will be there Sunday - Friday with the games on Mon & Thurs.

I booked a refundable apartment near the Amber museum (approx $200/night). But I was also looking at some nicer hotels on the coast (Zelenogradsk) that are cheaper.

Game days around all the World Cup bustle is probably enough for us, we don't particularly love crowds (but love soccer).

My questions to the experts here:

> How hard would it be to hire a driver to take us to the City Center AND BACK on Game days? We could go in the afternoon, games are around 8pm, but then getting home would be pretty late.

- how good or bad an idea is that?

> I'm leaning towards sticking with the apartment, so any other suggestions to get away from the city? we folks who prefer to be outside in nature and also most enjoy vacations where we spend time with locals.

> Any other recommendations?

Just note that the games may not go ahead so ensure all travel etc is insured and can be cancelled

Soccer Rose,
I suggest you check out TripAdvisor forums for both Russia/Kaliningrad AND FIFA World Cup (there is quite a bit of overlap there at this point).

In the meantime - not sure if you want to hire a driver, but hailing a cab shouldn't be a problem (Uber promised they would launch services in Kgrad in early 2018 too).

Enjoy your Moscow trip - and have fun in K-grad!
