Just loved Paris!
Jet lagged but still dreaming of Paris. Such a beautiful city and we found the French to be very friendly and helpful. I doubt that you can find bad food, and we thought better than Italy. Speak just a little French and you'll get by just fine. Loved the Rodin and the l'Orangerie museums and our hotel, Hotel Muguet, was great and very close to the metro. Envy those of you about to leave for Paris!

Yes, you can find bad food. Maybe on your next trip?
|
Maybe you can find bad food, but I think you really have to look hard for it. We only had one bad meal...at a cafeteria in Versailles that our tour driver took us to for lunch.
|
granitepoint - where is that hotel located & the metro stop?
I sound dumb but have not heard of l'Orangerie museum - what's it about? |
hey, twilight... you can easily find some info by using www.google.com
Hotel Muguet www.paris-hotel-muguet.com/ nearest metro: Ecole Militaire Musee de l'Orangerie www.musee-orangerie.fr/ http://www.discoverfrance.net/France...rangerie.shtml |
We are staying at the Muguet for several nights next month. Did you come across any great finds right near it? Anything...restaurants, shops, etc. Thanks!
|
To Twilight Zone..the nearest metro is LaTour Maubourg just two stops to Concorde. The Musee de l"Orangerie is most famous for panels of Monet's Water Lilies but has several other artists. It's a very manageable musuem. To MMS, we loved Rue Cler, a pedestrian street, right around the corner from the hotel. There are lots of cafes and restaurants there. Leaving the hotel and taking a right is Pasco where we ate twice. The owner, Pascal, speaks fluent English though most of the patrons were French. Very, very nice.
You can see that I don't know how to answer individually but hope this helps. |
I stayed at the Muguet last Sept. and loved it also! We also ate ate Pasco's twice. Once because it was close to home and the second because the food was so good! Looking forward to reading your report.
|
Thank you both for the Pasco's recommendation. We found a similar place on our last trip. Found it on a fluke but returned for several meals. Gotta love when you find those places:)
|
mms, do a search for "rue Cler" or "rue Cler restaurants" or "7th restaurants", and you will find probably 25 recommendations. It is a hotbed of good restaurants.
|
Gretchen--Thanks. I have been searching for months, but love hearing of these little finds vs hearing about the usual places. But we will definitely be hitting the Rue Cler area.
