Hi Ann, I am going to accompany my daughter on a business trip to Hanau, just outside of Frankfurt in November. What do you suggest for me to do during the day, while she is in meetings. Are there day trips by rail etc. special places and are they safe to do alone. Thanks.

Kathy, my son lived in Hanau for three years so I know the area some. how many days will you be there and will you have a car? It is easy to take the train from Hanau, though. If you can tell me how many days you have, I can make some recommendations. kk

Kathy, there are a lot of options for the Frankfurt/Rhine region. For specifics in Hanau, I'd encourage you to get in touch with my forum friend kk, since she has firsthand knowledge of the city which I don't. However, please feel free to info me on any email to her and I'll add on regional ideas if you'd like...

Hi! Ann, it's me again.
may i know which hotel did you stay in Berlin? Have you heard of hotel Bogota?
My initial plan is to return my car in munich and take a night train to Berlin. Do you think that it will be a better idea to drive to Berlin instead and make a stop in between? which town/city will you recommend to make a stop?
thanks,

mast

Hi, Mast... we stayed at the Humboldt-Muhle, a converted grain silo and mill on Lake Tegel. It has its own harbor and boat, with bicycles available for guests (and a Harley you can rent!). Children are free. It's very nice, in a quiet location, interesting rooms... ours was two-story. You can check it out at www.sorat-hotels.com. Unfortunately, I do not know the Bogota, but I'm sure if you post that question to the forum, you'll probably find someone who does. Please feel free to email me about any enroute stops between Munich and Berlin... Cheers.
