Just back from my trip - strange question from Vienna

I just came back from my trip to London, Belgium, and Vienna. I had a wonderful time - everyone's suggestions about hotels and restaurants were fabulous!! I stayed at the Hotel Welcome, and loved it. In Vienna, I stayed at the Hotel Admiral. The location couldn't have been better.

However, I have a strange question about Vienna. My brother (who I met there) had bought us tickets to see the Nutcracker at the Opera house on Saturday night. It was phenomenal, but, since I don't read German, I wasn't sure who performed. Was this the National Ballet, or was it a visiting group that performed. They were absolutely wonderful!

Thanks for all the great advice - I had a wonderful trip!

I assume you saw the Nutcracker at the State Opera House( Staatsoper)This was the Ballet Corps of the Opera -chief choreographer Renato Zanella.

This is also performed at the Volksoper during this time. Again, house corps performs.

A recent news article advised that an attempt would be made to better integrate the two corps and thus save money.

Glad that you enjoyed your trip1

Thanks for letting me know. I did go and check the website, but since I don't read German, I couldn't really figure out what I was reading.

The ballet was truly wonderful - they did a fantastic job. Storyline was different from the one I was used to, but I really enjoyed the way they presented it. And the opera house is really spectacular!

I liked the Admiral. As I said, location couldn't be beat. Rooms were clean and big - good bathroom. The woman who ran the front desk was interesting. When we first met her she frightened us a bit, but after we had to ask her some questions she warmed up a lot. I would definitely recommend it to anyone I know travelling there.

Thanks again!

We have stayed at the Admiral Hotel in Vienna twice. It especially good if you have a car like we did because they have a couple of parking spots near the hotel. Parking in Vienna is hard to come by and expensive so this is a real bonus. You have to reserve the parking spot at the time you book your room though. We also found the rooms clean and comfortable.
