SAdamsrec, You were very lucky to go to Versailles on a weekday and still see the fountains on AND not deal w/ much of a line. Good for you! It's a shame to be in such a beautiful city and waste so much of your time there standing in line.
Yes, we had beautiful weather, didn't we? |
Dolciani~
I just came across your trip report (you've posted on my report). Wow, it's like deja vu that we did alot of the same things. At your suggestion I intend on trying the Royal Madeline and Willie's Wine Bar was also on my list, but I didn't make it this time. But I return in less than 3 weeks so I can do it then! RG (By the way I found De Garre bar in Bruges w/ 300 beers. Apparently there's another one that boasts 300 beers called T Brugs Beertje (The Beer House) What fun. |
dolciani... my husband and I will be in Paris at the end of June and want to do a river cruise. I was looking into the world vacation Eiffel Tower Seine River cruise (includes dinner) but the price seemed pretty high. What cruise line did you use? Thanks for your help!

I hate to ask after reading the posts about baseball caps (another thread on the France Board) but what kind of shoes did you wear? My husband & I plan to do a lot of walking as you did and would appreciate tips for women's shoes.
thanks so much |
RGTraveler, Yes I agree, we did seem to have similar tastes in our travels. I hope you enjoy Brugge - don't forget to take a short "cruise" on the canals in Brugge. There were artists along the canals selling their prints and paintings - they were some of my favorite "bring home" items.
GDom, We didn't do a dinner cruise - we brought our own champagne (you could also bring wine), foie gras and baguette for the cruise that leaves from the Eiffel Tower - Vendettes- If you're first in line to board you can sit in front and get some great pictures. GDom, I just brought comfortable leather "maryjanes"....but my feet were still sore. I would recommend that you purchase some of the Scholl's gel inserts for any of your shoes -it'll ease the aching feet at the end of the day. The French Women are very stylishly dressed and wear heels or classy flats (similar to any U.S. City). I hardly saw any flip-flops or "sneakers". |
I wore "no name" brown nubuck sneakers made in France but bought in Tucson, for long walking days.
For short walking, a pair of 10 year old red suede Mephisto sandals. They've gone everywhere with me. Got them at Nordstroms for literally 1/4 their original price. |
