Just a Simple Paris Hotel Question

We are going to Paris on Sept 22 to Sept 30 (flying one day before and one day after) for our first visit. My question is. I booked and paid for the hotel, Bellevue et du Chariot d'or in the 4th for 68 Euro per night not including breakfast. Did I make a good deal or will we suffer? Thank you.

You can check for reviews of the hotel at www.tripadvisor.com

Agre to review tripadvisor. Doesn;t look too bad for a super budget choice.

Hi S,

Look up your location at www.mappy.com.

You are in the 3rd, not the 4th, about 300km from 3 metro stops (3, 4, 11) and 1.5 km from Notre Dame.

You can also tour the neighborhood at www.pagesjaunes.fr

Wow, 300km! It might be better to fly to the metro station rather than taking a TGV.

Hi K,

Dang, how did that k get in there?

Ira, I told you about that spot on your glasses!

Have you stayed at budget hotels before? I think it's hard to answer the "will we suffer?" part without knowing your expectations. This is not a comment about this particular hotel, as I don't know anything about it. More about staying in budget places traveling in Europe. I have never suffered, but I know plenty of people who would NOT be happy in the kind of hotels I like.

Thank you for the website www.pagesjaunes.fr. I walked the neighborhood around our hotel and it look good to us. I found this hotel in the Fodor's Paris 2007 guide so I figured it would be ok. All we need is a place to sleep and to take showers. Does anyone have any suggestions for low cost (20 to 30 Euros PP) meals in the general area we will be staying and a place to have great french type breakfasts? Thank you.

Hi Some,

> Does anyone have any suggestions for low cost (20 to 30 Euros PP) meals in the general area we will be staying ...<

You can look up "restaurant" at pagesjaunes for the streets in the immediate neighborhood of the hotel.

At that price level, we just scout the neighborhood for what looks good and ask the hotel staff for recommendations.

Thank you ira. I am going to do that now.

No idea about the hotel itself, but the location for that price is great. You are only a one mile 20 minute walk from the BHV department store where you can have a good French breakfast at a reasonable cost.

someday~ Maybe you'll post back after your trip to this thread? So we can see how things turned out? I'd love to have an inexpensive option up my sleeve in that area of Paris!

somedayparis Apr 7th, 2007 09:55 AM

I sure will. We have 167 days before we leave which seems like a life time to wait. I am sure (I HOPE!) it will start going faster the closer it get? We are still planning all the things we want to see and do, in and around Paris.

A good French breakfast is coffee and a fresh croissant - and you can get one at numerous cafes, patisseries in your neighborhood.
