Jurançon

Recently read a rave review of the restaurant Chez Ruffet in the SW at Jurançon.
Has anyone dined here?

sheila May 12th, 2004 12:49 PM

No, but I'd like to know more. Where is it exactly?

Sheila, looking at the map, you pass Pau, cross the Pau River to get there. Above is Billere.
It is a converted 1800-vintage farmhouse.
Here's a dish that's noted for you.
"He bakes spinach, mascarpone, parmigiano, and cream in a pumkin.
(hm, I do a provençal soup in a pumpkin)
"His food is unusual not weird"...."We won't be surprised if they soon achieve international renown."

......I'm sure you know this, but the
May issue of Grourmet has a nice article
on Juraçon 'a nose for Quality'....
it's about the wines but mentions some
restaurants (not Chez Ruffet).

cigalechanta May 12th, 2004 05:12 PM

No, I didn't. I don't read Gourmet usually. I'll look it up if it's this month's?

P.S. The artcle mentions chez Ruffert's savvy, Jurançon-rich wine list
