Jungfraujoch/Swiss Alps
 

I notice that on the fare plan http://www.jungfraubahn.ch/en/deskto.../89_read-6489/ for Jungfraubahnen transportation fares, that prices are in Swiss Francs and Euros.

Is it possible to pay for these tickets in Euros? We'll be traveling from France, doing this area as a day trip so it'd be more convienent for us to use Euros rather than SF.

It's really difficult to do the Jungfrau as a day trip. No matter how good the weather is in the valleys the weather at the top of the mountains is often bad (as in covered with clouds) and there's no point going up since you can;t see anything.

We were in Interlaken 3 days before we got a day with weather good enough at the top to make the trip worthwhile (although we found plenty of other places to visit in the area). If you plan to do this you have to check with the web site - or call the train station - before leaving to find out what the weather at the top is/will be.

And the top being socked in by clouds is not rare at any time of year. We even had it happen at Mt Pilatus - which is only 7,000 feet. Luckily we had traveled up, explored etc and were sitting down to lunch when the clouds (rain) moved in. By then you couldn;t see more than about 30 feet in front of you.

We're not going all the way to Jungfrau, but want to hike the Kleine Scheidegg - Mannlichen-Hike and then visit Murren. We've been in both areas before, staying for several days, but on this trip our daughter wants to see it. It's her first trip. We're renting a gite in France so it must be a day trip only.

I believe they'll take Euros, but they'll give you change in Swiss francs.

The exchange rate they fix for you to buy in Euros is not going to be wonderful for you or your wallet.

It seems that you have a long-ish stay in France. I think it would just be simpler to get fewer Euros from a French ATM in the days before your trip, then get just enough CHF from a Swiss ATM for just that day.

Thanks everyone! I'll do as you suggest and get the Swiss Francs. I know better don't I, than to try and get by without getting the correct currency!

Anyone want to trade some Chinese yuan for some CHF!!
