July Rome, Florence and Venice Weather

Planning to be in Rome, Florence and Venice in 1st 2 weeks in July 2002. Are hotel air conditioners a "must-have"?<BR>Thanks,<BR>Ben

Absolutely. It was very hot last July.

If you are used to air conditioning then the answer is yes, the hotest of the three is Florence, at the bottom of a valley surrounded by mountains,it is normaly in the summer one of the warmest places on earth!!!

We were in Roma and Toscana last July. In Roma we did not have A/C but were in an apartment with several fans. It was very hot and sticky, but not as bad as the weather in Washington DC, Chicago or Atlanta would ahve been. If we go back to Roma in the summer, we willa gain stay in that apartment as its charms out weigh the lack of AC
