Hubbies capris are more casual than upscale. He wouldn't wear them to dinner at a nice resturant just around and about. Like I said, they are just a nice alternative to shorts. So many Europeans here wear them.

And what you call "capris" are not the kind Audrey Hepburn wore in Roman Holidays ! (BTW, the French used to call this 60s item "pantalon pirate"). Contemporary "long shorts", as they are called, are quite baggy and full of zippers to store your wallet, cell phones and the like. So, forget about seeing thousands of Brigitte Bardots in drag in European cities this summer!
