jewish odessa

My sister and I are taking an Oceania cruise of the Black Sea, primarily because our "roots" are from Odessa and we thought it would be an interesting part of the world. We had booked a ship shore excursion tour of Jewish Odessa and now learn that this tour was cancelled, - no explanation.
If anyone knows how to go about locating an English speaking authentic tour guide for this itinerary, I would be most grateful!!

Have you contacted Chabad? www.fjc.ru/odessa

They may be able to contact someone.
The old synagogue in Osipova St should be still in use.

Try Unipress in Odesa:

I once used them to tour the Odesa caves.

Carolee,
My relatives are Jews from Odessa also. Please post when you get back. Have always wanted to visit & try to find relatives. Not sure if anyone is even still left there. Have great time.

If you go to the website of Migdal in Odessa, at the left bottom side there are 2 tiny envelope, click on them, become e-mails addressed to the organization, they offer Jewish tours in Odessa.

My Goodness! I am impressed and will follow up on all suggestions! I never expected to hear from anyone. Odessa isnt exactly London or Paris in terms of tourism destinations.
Thank you to everyone who took the trouble to reply and I will report back on how we make out.
