jet lag and children

In addition to the many practical suggestions made here, I want to add a thought. We have crossed the pond 3 times from Boston with our 3 boys - always on the night flight. The first time, I worried so about jet lag and wretched children and exhausted parents. I fed the kids before we got on the flight, made sure we were all tired, only allowed them to watch 1 movie (Virgin Atlantic), I only drank water, and I desperately tried to sleep. For the last 2 trips, I decided the flight was part of the adventure - not just something to get through. That's how the whole family approached it. Jet lag was no better, no worse on any trip. However, I was much more relaxed.
