Jerez de la Frontera - Tips

Dear Community,

We will be spending a few days in Jerez de la Frontera in February. Would welcome any tips and suggestions for places to eat and drink.

Thank you!

Jerez dining-
Gourmet:
Carboná, beautiful room, lovely cuisine, very talented chef, who's called the "sherry chef" for his use of sherry in his dishes & Avanico (also with branch in El Puerto) & La Marea de Marcos (a José Andrés favorite)

Michelin starred:
Lu, Cocina y Alma & Mantúa
Contemporary casual:
Albalá, by the Michelin starred chef of Mantúa (handy for after the horse ballet), Albores & AMar (same owner, specializing in almadraba caught blue fin tuna), El Gallo Azul (the blue rooster), the most photographed dining spot on the Main Street, Calle Larga

Fun for flamenco and sherry in a former sherry warehouse, or tabanco, extremely popular with locals:
Tabanco El Pasaje with daily flamenco performances & Las Banderillas, no flamenco, but traditional Andalusian fare (rabo de toro, tortillitas de camarones) in a bullfighting-themed décor

Small plates and nice selection of Tierra de Cádiz wines:
El Almacén, on the way to AMar on Calle Latorre

I hope your February visit coincides with the International Flamenco Festival, a wonderful time to be in Jerez and an event I tried to attend often, as the city is really buzzing then with attendees from around the globe and the most renown flamenco stars. Sara Baras will be performing her new program on Feb. 23 and 24.
