Jenkins B&B in London
Has anyone stayed in this B&B in London. Before I make the reservation I wanted to get some opinions from this forum.

I've considered it; the location is good.
If you type "jenkins AND london" in the text box at the top of this page, you'll pull up nearly 40 threads mentioning it. Feedback generally seems to be that it's pretty basic, but good value for what it is in London. |

In case you haven't seen the hotel's website. It has links to reviews from several well-respected guides such as "Great Sleeps", etc. |
Jenkins Hotel is a nice hotel in a great location in Bloomsbury near the Russell Square underground. You can also walk to Euston Station from there. It is a small, pleasantly decorated hotel. Their breakfast is very good. I have stayed at other hotels on Cartwright Gardens several times and I like the location for restaurants, shops, the theater district and the British Museum. I often walk to St. Paul's from there as well. I stayed there in April and I noticed there was one very large room with a kingsized bed. I had a single with bath which was bigger than average for a single room. I had a nice view of the tennis courts on Cartwright Gardens.
Hope you enjoy your stay. |
I stayed there for about a week in 2001 with my travelling companion, and I agree that it is quite pleasant and a good deal for the price (for London, that is). However, our twin-bedded room, on the top floor was very tiny, and our bathroom was about the smallest I'd ever seen. I'm quite accustomed to budget hotels and small rooms, but it was a bit disconcerting when my friend rolled over in the next bed and knocked over the lamp, which was on a tiny table wedged between the beds and landed on me! Quite a startling way to wake up. I saw some of the other rooms, and they were quite a bit bigger. I'd stay there again, but I'd try to get a different room this time.

I stayed at the Jenkins in 2001. We had a triple and it was wall to wall bed, but I didn't expect much bigger. The bathroom was built into a corner of the room, and it was tiny. The rate was good, the people friendly, and the breakfast was a cooked on if you wanted. I liked it, but you must like dogs. Their two black labs have the run of the place, including the breakfast room.
