Jeans in Italy

We will be traveling to Rome, Florence, and the Amalfi Coast at the end of September. Are jeans a good choice for women and men?

Are you fat or thin? Because if you are fat, it doesn't really matter what you wear.

A really good look is to wear a straight-leg jean and roll once for a cuff of about 6 inches. You can wear these jeans with Taryn Rose ballet flats, Pumas, or Ferragamo slip-ons.

What tops are you and your DH planning to wear??

Hi r115

I have been to Italy twice (Rome, Venice, Florence, Milan, etc.) and each time I say many Italians wearing jeans. From my observations, Italians and other Europeans tend to wear dark, well-fit jeans. I personally like to wear black jeans in Europe.

Thin - I know this is not very PC, but I find you very funny.

Why do people debte the merits of jeans, clearly if people are willing to spend $150-$200 on a pair, they are in fashion--no?

If you think that you look good in jeans, and they fit you properly, and like any garment should be well tailored with proper hem, by all means wear them.

Thingorjus: heels are the only appropriate shoe for women.

Not if you're walking around all over Rome they're not. (heels) Get the most comfortable footwear you can find. I wouldn't advise the rolled jean leg-that's for young girls-straight leg jeans are fine. But as for Rome, yes, you can wear good looking jeans, but frankly, during the season, and not in summer? I wouldn't-but that's me. Lightwear trousers are a much better choice for Rome, or black pants-your choice of material. Jeans are absolutely fine in Florence, and as for the Amalfi Coast, lightweight cotton trousers or capris-it's quite warm there in September, and chock a block full with English tourists.

Oh my goodness, I thought this was a forum where travel information was shared, not a place for you to post your personal prejudices against a certain group of people. Completely out of line, uncalled for, and absolutely NOT FUNNY! You should be banned from the forum.
