Jazz music in Italy

Hi all - I am looking for additional things for my hoped for trip to Italy that my husband would find interesting and that would increase his enthusiasm for the trip I am planning. We will be in Venice, Florence, and Rome for 13 nights in April (I hope). My husband loves jazz, and I thought the idea of going to a jazz club in one or more of the cities would be very cool. Does anyone have recommendations of places they have been to?

Also - are clubs that have music non-smoking?

Smoking rules may have changed since I was there, have fun.

Yes SeaUrchin is correct. Smoking is not allowed inside public places anymore. If one wants to smoke they will need to go outside. Have fun butnotrmpt. I know a lot of Italians in Italy that love jazz. But I don't have info regarding various jazz clubs. You might go to www.google.com and put in Jazz Clubs and the name of the city for further information.

We found a great little jazz club around the corner from the Restaurant La Giostra (http://www.ristorantelagiostra.com/frameset.html Borgo Pinti, 12/R, 055 241341,)

They charged 10 E to get in (they called it a one time membership!)and drinks were very expensive, but the jazz was great and the atmosphere really fun. I don't remember the name of the place but you can hear the music from the street.
