Jazz clubs - karaoke

My husband is a singer, and I know he'd be tickled to be able to get up and either join a jazz trio and sing a couple of songs, or at least be able to do karaoke while in Paris. Do you have any suggestions on clubs where the house band allows people to sing, or good karaoke clubs?

I don't know about jazz clubs that would let someone join in, but my kids enjoyed the karaoke at La Belle Epoque a number of times (that's all I know - I didn't go with them). Also, for just general singing (mainly of old French drinking songs) there's Au Lapin Agile in Montmartre.

Thank you! I'll make a note of La Belle Epoque and we can check it out some night.

No jazz trio or karaoke suggestions but there are plenty of places with open mic nights where I'm sure your husband could get up and belt out a number or two. I've got friends who play in Irish pubs (where you'll most commonly find open mic nights) and they often play behind those who want to sing or play an instrument. My friend Thomas is really talented and really funny and he's always hosting open mic nights. Here's a link to his Facebook page if you're interested:

Thanks for the open mic info - but unfortunately, I don't read French, other than a word here and there. Does he move around to different clubs, or is he a fixture at a particular place?

He moves around but frequently plays The Galway and The Highlander, both well known places right along the quai near Place-Saint-Michel and on rue de Nevers, respectively. You can use google translate to read his page, if you'd like.
