Japanese Food in London
 

Greetings! <BR> <BR>My girlfriend is a Japanese food addict (if it wasn't for me, she would be eating sushi every day for breakfast, lunch, and dinner). We'll be traveling to London and Paris in mid-April. Anyone knows of decent Japanese restaurants in those cities? Also, what damage would they cause to my wallet? <BR> <BR>Thanks in advance for your replies.

Nobu is not just "decent", it's an experience! You want to try and get reservations now. It's a pretty hot place to go, see and be seen. They're are also in NY and LA. Here's one that will be easy on your wallet. There are a couple of Wagamama noodle shops. They are contemporary Japanese. You sit at modern long "communal" tables and order huge bowls of wonderful noodle dishes, drink a Japanese "health" drink or better yet, Japanese beer. Very young and trendy crowd.

I recommend Wagamama as well. Fantastic food, try the noodles and very easy on your wallet.

I second the nomination for Nobu. Best food I've ever eaten. Costly (the food alone was £50) but we asked the waiter to bring us a selection and it was unbelievable. It's also one of the hottest places in town - based in the ultra-hip Metropolitan hotel, so is good for star spotting. However, you'll need to book 3-4 weeks in advance, at least. <BR> <BR>For reasonable "on the go" food, try Yo Sushi (it's a small chain, one in Poland Street in Soho), for sushi on moving tables. There's also a bar underneath called Yo Below, which has sunken tables with beer taps on each table (you can serve yourself), and reasonably priced Bento boxes - great for lunch or light evening meal. There is also a Yo Sushi in Harvey Nichols. <BR> <BR>The Itsu by Brompton Cross (Chelsea) is decent too for conveyer belt sushi...
