Jacobite Steam Train

I have heard that you can reserve tickets for the Jacobite Steam Train online, but I can't find a web site that lets me do that. I found 2 web sites, but neither had online booking. Help!

www.scotrail.co.uk/ has on-line booking.

The Jacobite runs on the regular Glasgow to Mallaig route so you just have to read the schedule carefully to be sure you are booking the steam train.

I don't think you CAN book online; but you can by phone.

This is their website address

I don't know, maybe the site doesn't work properly - but Scotrail does have a a "Book Online" feature.

I just tested it through selecting the outward and return trains but did not actually book . . . . .

Just to make sure - I continued through all the on-line booking except payment and it seems to work fine . . .

Just be sure to check the schedule closely before going into the booking process because you can't tell which runs are steam just from the booking site. They are indicated on the main schedule though.

I was able to e-mail the Jacobite Steam Train. My reservation was confirmed, then I faxed my credit card details. Apparently they do not have purchasing access on-line. It runs on the same track as the regular trains to Malliag, but is run by a different company. There is only one round trip train daily - Monday thru Friday and one on Sundays, summer only. They only have the one train, it was used in the Harry Potter movies.
