Jacket required for dinner in Venice?

If we are eating only at mid-priced places in Venice can i get away with dress pants and a nice shirt! Thanks, Dan

Yes.

Yes

Yes!!! For God sake don't fall into the trap of other posters on Fodor's who want everybody to dress like they were going to the opera! A dress shirt and pants or a polo shirt and Dockers is perfect for just about everything anyplace in Italy.

Thanks for the replies...exactly what I was hoping to hear!

I made the mistake of dragging a dinner jacket with me on my honeymoon because Fodors, Frommers, etc. all said that Antico Martini requires a jacket. When I arrived at dinner, at least half of the male diners weren't wearing jackets. Well, at least it came in handy when my bride got cold on the flight home.

Yes. Venetian restauranteurs--like most restauranteurs everywhere--want your business, not your clothes.
