J-92 on Eiffel Tower- What does it mean?

My husband & I recently returned from Paris & never had a chance to find out what the J-92 & the phrase under it meant. I heard someone say it had something to do with the Millenium. Thanks for your help.

It changes every day and signifies the number of days left until the millennium. J standing for jours (days). I can't remember what the phrase underneath was, but the number was quite large when I was last there, over 1000 I think.

You must have returned about 2 months ago because today I suspect it says: <BR>"J-30 avant l'an 2000"

The millennium is a big deal there. About 2-3 million people will be in the Eiffel tower to bring in the 2000. <BR>My host made it a point to talk about it when we visited the tower a couple of weeks ago.
