Fly to London then 1,5 hour for Portsmouth Stay. Several things to see there, rather than Southampton. Then maybe visit Brighton as well.

Well we're definitely doing Southhampton, since I can't imagine staying in Portsmouth for the conference. I like Brighton, but it's kind of in the wrong direction for things like Bovington, so we're probably not doing it this trip.
