ITINERARY ROME/FLORENCE

I would love advice on my trip to Italy. I arrive Rome May 9-17. Unfortunately I depart Rome on May 17. Does this itinerary make any sense at all, or will I just be running ragged. Would it be more enjoyable to spend half the time in Rome and half in Florence/Tuscany area??
Is the intinerary ridiculous below:
I thought May 9-11 Rome
May 11-13Florence
May 13-15 Cinque Terre
May 16 Rome/depart on the 17

Everyone will have different ideas, and I haven't been to CT, but with only a week including jet lag I'd stick to just Rome and Florence. Rome is overwhelming in its riches and demands, and Florence allows for seeing its art treasures plus doing a day trip into the Tuscan countryside. (Or, stay outside of Florence and daytrip into it.)

Your arrival on the 9th will presumably leave you tired and having to check in at your hotel, so you can't count on it being a full day of sightseeing. Unless you really hate big cities,
I'd say 9-13 in Rome, take evening train, then have 14-16 in Florence, returning on the evening of the 16th just to sleep somewhere so you can catch your flight next a.m.

I totally agree with the previous answer. Your travel plan would not let you enjoy none of the places.
Simona

Andrea, As you arrive in Rome, train that day to Florence. Spend 4 nites there, to include day trips to Siena and perhaps Lucca, and then train back to Rome for your last 4 days. That is less hassle than having to check in and out 3 times. Good luck !

Thank you so much for the advice, I know deep down you need to slow down in order to appreciate the sights; however, that need to see EVERYTHING!! I will have to make a return trip. Bob I really appreciate your advice on arriving Rome and heading straight to Florence, I can't tell you how making that small change will make the trip less hectic, plus not being in a big city when still in a fog from travel.
Thank you! Thank you!
Andrea
