Itinerary Review: 2.5 days in Helsinki
 

Hello,

I land in Helsinki Friday, September 8th at 10:45 am from the US. Departing 6:45 pm on Monday, the 11th to Stockholm. Sunday will be spent on a daytrip to see friends in Turku. I'm staying at the U14.

Would love some help with a few pieces. Imagine I'll walk nearly everywhere outside of getting to/from the airport (presume public transport - although seems a bit of a schlep. Perhaps Uber?) I think a Finland Museum card will make economic sense and ease. Are there any tickets or anything I need to book in advance?

I'm 40, single, love 19th century art and mostly art museums and green spaces.Friday:

Land 10:45 am

Design Museum and lunch at Taito Cafe

Sinebrychopin Taideomuseum

Kamppi chapel (closes at 5) - if time to pop in quickly

Atheneum – till 8

Café Savoy at 8:30 pm

Liberty or Death for a drink after



Saturday:

Market square and obleski

Tuomiokirkko – 9 am

Uspenski Cathedral - opens 10 am

Botanic Gardens - or, do I scrap this altogether and do Kaisma and Amos Rex

Pop into Kaisma

National Museum (till 6 pm) and toolo Bay

Temppeliaukio Church - till 6:50 pm

Pompier Espa at 7:30 pm or Spis?



Mon:

Suomelinna Fortress or other cruise? - I'm not sure I really want to see much on Suomelinna island but may be nice to take the ferry and walk around a bit? Or, a cruise elsewhere? How can I easily get from my hotel to Suomelinna island?

Presume I should leave for airport around 4? How early do I need to go for a trip from Helsinki to Stockholm (on Norwegian) without checked bags?

Hi there. I don't want to send anyone away from Fodors, but perhaps Helsinki is not as much of a known destination for those on here. May I suggest cross posting on Trip Advisor? It tends to have a lot more "locals" that should be able to give you feedback.

I have not been to Helsinki yet but I was considering it a few months ago. I do hope that you submit a trip report when you get back.
