Itinerary help: Paris, Provence, Annecy (10 days)
Hello!
I will be solo traveling again to France late September for 10 days. It'll be my 2nd time in Paris (I spent a week there and did a day trip to Versailles), and want to venture out to different parts of France this time around. Unfortunately, I do not drive, so will have lean heavily on train transport and public transit where available. My interests are to enjoy Paris even more this time around and spend time in nature (Annecy, on the lake). Here's what I'm thinking so far: Day 1: Land at CDG (8:45am) and take TGV straight to Avignon Day 2: Explore Avignon, Pont-du-Gard Day 3: Les Baux de Provence Day 4: TGV Avignon to Annecy Day 5: Annecy Day 6: Annecy Day 7: Annecy to Paris Day 8: Paris Day 9: Paris Day 10: Paris I know this is quite general, but I'm trying to sort out places to stay, train tickets, and feasibility without a car first. Any thoughts or suggestions would be so appreciated. Thank you so much! |
I would think about putting all your Paris time up front, then to Avignon, and then to Annecy. You can fly multi city air ticket into Paris and out of Geneva. Geneva is very close to Annecy and buses run to the airport from there.
If no car, you will need tours to go to Pont du Gard and Les Baux. Probably should find a tour that does San Remy, the sanitarium where Van Gogh spent time and Les Baux in the same trip. Have fun! |
BTW, there may be public transportation available to Pont du Gard and Les Baux instead of tours.
In Annecy, I stayed at the Hotel Splendid. In Avignon, I stayed at the Avignon Grand Hotel where I was upgraded to a very nice suite, it is right across the street from the city walls. |
