Itinerary Help Needed - Germany-(Switzerland?)-France

Jump to last reply

My family of 4 (2 adults, 2 teenagers) is traveling to Europe in August. We are a little overwhelmed by the options and hope you all can help us focus on a great itinerary!

We have 12 days, not counting travel days. We will fly into Frankfurt and must spend the first 2 days at least in the Heidelberg area. We will fly out of Paris.

We would like a mixture of city/country and cultural experiences. We realize we won't be able to escape all the other tourists, but if you have any suggestions re: less frequented spots, please let me know! We also want to make sure we're not spending all of our time traveling and are smart about "quality" time.

Here's what I'm playing with:

Heidelberg - 2 days
Rent car, stay one night enroute to Munich (where?) - 1 day
Munich - 2 days
Train to Luzern - 1 day
Train to Tours, rent car to explore Loire Valley, staying in Chenin - 2 days
Train to Paris - 4 days

Any thoughts/suggestions? Thank you in advance!
