Itinerary help - Italy
Hi!
We booked our flights and are very excited. We have 13 nights total, the first 3 of which we are spending in Paris. We are then flying to Venice from Paris by Volare air. That leaves us 10 nights in Italy. This is our plan so far: Nights 1 and 2 - Venice 3,4,5 - Florence 8,9,10 - Rome We can't decide whether to do nights 6 and 7 in Tuscany somewhere, or spend 3 nights in Venice, then 3 nights in Florence, and one night somewhere, maybe Siena? Or spend 2 nights in Capri or Amalfi Coast? We are definitely flying out of Rome so our last 3 nights need to be there. Any input? Do we need a 3rd night in Venice? Or a 4th in Rome or Florence? Or should we spend a little time somewhere else??? |
I would add a night each to Rome and Venice, and maybe do a day trip or 2 (from Florence or Rome). If you really wan to spend som etime in a smaller town, then maybe 1 night in Siena or another tuscan or umbrian town. Where are you leaving form, Rome?

Hi
imo you lose at least half a day going from one place to another (unless you travel at night), and that's assuming all goes off without a hitch. So by my calculations, you will have, conservatively, 1.5 days in Venice,2.5 days in Florence, and 2.5 days in Rome. I would also not want to do additional packing/unpacking, checking in and out, etc so I would add one night to Venice or Florence (if Florence, you can do a daytrip into Tuscany, Siena is good) and then one day to Rome. Going further south to Capri or Amalfi for 1.5 days doesn't seem worth it to me. |
rent a car in FLorence (morning of day 5), stay 3 nights S of Siena and explore S Tuscany, then turn in car on way into Rome!

Hi pf,
I suggest that you add a night to Venice and a night to Florence. The extra Florence night will allow you a daytrip to Siena or Lucca. I suggest the Amalfi Coast for another trip. |
Thanks fodorites!!
I think we may add a night to Venice to make a total of 3 nights there. Then we may either add a night to Florence, OR spend one night in Siena after Florence. Defnitely the last 3 nights in Rome. |
