Itinerary help-- France/Germany in October
My husband and I are planning a 10 day trip to Germany and France in October. We arrive at Frankfurt and stay three nights with family in Kaiserslaughtern, then plan to rent a car and get on the road.
Here's our tentative route: Sunday: Strasbourg/Obernai, a La Cour D'alsace Monday: Lausanne. Hotel TBD Tuesday -Wednesday Beaune, Hotel de la Poste, 2 nts Thursday. Reims. Have requested Les Telliers Friday. Return to Kaiserslautern for flight from Frankfurt Drive time each day looks like 4hours or less. We are only committed to Beaune, which we visited briefly on a previous trip. We are avoiding large cities; locations based on recommendations from friends. I would appreciate thoughts on itinerary and hotel/b&b recommendations. Thanks! |
I would leave out Lausanne. There are enough things to see between Strasbourg and Beaune that the detour is unnecessary.

Thanks. Any other suggestions out there?

We stayed at a vineyard hotel and restaurant between Beaune and Dijon. The food was very good and driving wsa easy. Dijon is only slightly bigger than Beaune and has some interesting places to visit.
When you get home to the "burgh have a Primanti"s for me!!! |
Your tour will mainly be about the joys of driving. Perhaps you should stay at least two nights in a location (I.e. Strasbourg), so that you can see more of the locales. 10 days is not long and most people want to see everything, but I suggest that less is more...and just go back again when you can.
