itinerary help for family- london and france

Finally booked flights for 3 weeks on open jaw in to London and out of Paris for family of 4 with 2 girls ages 9 and 12. Have used this site very successfully with trips to costa Rica, Italy and Nova Scotia. Think we want to stay in London just 3 or 4 days. would like to rent a house somewhere in France during the stay but don't know where to start( dordogne valley, rhone valley?). A week seaside would be great. would like to spend last week in Paris. Thanks in advance

When? Houses usually rent out months in advance - although you can sometimes get last minute bargains. And are you aking if people reco the coast or the Rhone or Dordogne?

Sorry to be so unclear. Will arrive in London and stay maybe a few days and then perhaps take train all the way to Avignon(is that an evil distance by train?).So will have a week and a half to explore before finishing with a week in Paris. What are your absolute favorite parts of France? Everything sounds great and am just trying to narrow focus. Thanks

Ok - I'll try again . . WHEN are you traveling?

You could train it all the way from London, but you'd be better off taking a low cost flight (easyjet for example) from London to either Marseille or Nice. It'll save you lots of time and perhaps money as well.

Might be able to help further if you tell us when you'll be traveling and what you are looking to do...

If you are thinking of sepnding a week in the Dordogne, Avignon is not the right destination; Bordeaux or Périgueux would make more sense.

Dear Fellow insomniac fodorites
Sorry not to post the dates. We arrive in London August 7th and depart Paris on the 28th. Have booked a lovely apartment in Paris in the Marais for last 5 nights. The more I read about Provence the more I want to see it so it looks like we will look about there. thanks for your patience.
