itinerary help

My daughter (22) and 3 friends will be traveling to Greece in May. Where should they go to see the most, have fun, explore and stay cheap? Help thanks flgajaja

Have they done any research on their own to narrow it down to any areas or islands? How many days and what's the budget? How many people per room? I would highly recommend that they get some travel videos from the library and guidebooks to determine what interests them, then come back with some specific questions.

If your daughter is 22 and traveling abroad, she is plenty old enough to come to this forum herself and do her own research.

No one can help with questions as broad as yours. Your daughter needs to hit the internet and the library and figure out her own trip and then come here with questions about refining it, at which point there will be many knowledgable people willing to pitch in with ideas and suggestions.

thanks for your rude comments. I'm sure my daughter and her friends have done some research on their own, but they are in college right now and somewhat busy so I thought I would try to get some info to offer them on my own. I have used this forum in the past and it has been very helpful unlike you.

Well, Flgajaj, if someone emailed you and asked "My daughter (22) and 3 friend are traveling to the USA in May. Where should they go to see the most, have fun, explore, and stay cheap?"

You got a good, clear, concise answer for that? No, I didn't think so.

sandi travel nut-they will be in Greece for 1 week and would like to see some of the islands as well as Athens. which islands would you suggest? they might try staying in some hostels or they talked about renting a house depending on how much it costs. any recommendations? FYI-I enjoy helping my friends, as well as my own daughter with travel arrangements. thanks for your help

stcirq-sorry didn't really think Greece was quite as large as US. anyway, still doesn't justify your rudeness. Don't bother responding

Don't worry. I won't.

Do I really want to get involved in this? Going on the premise that whatever I suggested to my daughter would set her running in the opposite direction, tell them not to miss Ios ;-)

Seriously, though, with only a week in Greece, they don't have much time for island hopping, so they should either stay on the mainland where there is plenty to see, or take the ferry to Paros or Naxos for a couple of days. There is plenty of cheap accommodation on the islands in May, so no need for hostels there. One word of warning, though, May 26-28 is a Greek public holiday weekend, so the islands will be busy then.

You might want to do a search on Lonely Planet Thorn Tree for cheap accommodation in Athens, but if you post a question, respectfully suggest you pretend you are the college student. For God's sake don't tell them you are the mother!

thanks for the advice

also expect people to ask you the same questions we did.

I would highly recommend the book Let's Go Greece, written by Harvard Student Agencies students, this book has been around for years and will answer your type of questions.

Many libraries will have it too.

Esepcially good on youth accommodations and hopping nightspots. etc.
