Itinerary - Greece - 2 Weeks ? ? ?
Do you have any recommendations re: what to do with 2 weeks in Greece? Athens will probably 2 days and Mykonos will probably 4 days...anything to add?

Thank you for your assistance!

Richard

My husband and I spent two weeks in Greece, we spent the first week in Athens, then flying to Mykonos and then to Santorini, then we flew back to Athens, for a chartered sailboat (with a skipper of course as we had NEVER been in a sailboat in our lives). And spent 7 days sailing around the Sarconic islands (recommended for non-sailors) Hydra, Aegina etc. It was wonderful, one night we dropped anchor in this secluded cove.. with our sister boat, and had a gourmet meal (the other boat had a chef).. after swimming in the warm sea (this was in October no less).

Islands are the easy answer, but it depends on what you like to do.

For our 2 weeks, we rented a car and went up north and spent time in Thessoloniki (for a wedding), which I really liked, and on the way back down to Athens, we stopped and climbed Mt. Olympus. If you are athletic all all, that is something different - how many people do you read about on here who did that?

Then we went to Mykonos and Santorini, and loved both, saw Delos, spent a little time (not enough) in Crete, and did 2 days in Athens as well (and IMHO, 2 days is plenty in Athens. I didn't like the city, but the ruins are fabulous).

So, we did a very varied vacation, it just depends what you like.

Good luck planning - I loved the country!

There is a lot to do in Greece. What time of year are you going? If it is in the summer the islands are great, but do not forget the Peloponese. There is a lot of antiquties there and nice beach twons. Also, there is an area call the Pelion which is near Volos. It is beautiful and green there with wonderful beaches that consist of white marble pebbles. Delphi is also a great place. you will have fun.

Don't miss Delphi and Meteora.
