Why does he want to go to Dresden - fine city and all but curious as to what makes that stick out so much - Slaughter House Five?

Oops - that was two years ago - you did not go to Dresden but still curious as to why a high school student would be so intrigued by it?

Hi, I do not have time to read thru all the string of suggestions, but I have one suggestion. If you go to Munich, I think it could be important to take your adult son to Dacchau, just about 20 minutes by train from Munich. While it is depressing, I think it is so important to not forget this part of WW II. It will be something that he or you, will never forget. I did avoid certain parts of the camp, and sat and listened to the birds when it was pretty overwhelming for me. I know that not everyone would find this important, but I think it is terribly important. Sue

Thanks for the tip Sue81. @PalenQ He was taken with the architecture there, but nothing else really specific. He wants to see the whole country, but also fell in love with Norway and can't wait to go back there. He's young, so he has the time to visit many places in Europe.
