As usual a HUGE help you have all been. I am pretty much done my itinerary for Florence. The only thing I still need a little bit of help with is the last stop on Day 2 getting to and from Piazzale Michelangelo...

I was thinking in the mid-late afternoon when we are looking at Ponte Vecchio we will cross and it seems to me that if we walk (10 min) from there to Bus #13A, Bus Stop: PONTE ALLE GRAZIE, that will take us to Piazzale Michelangelo.

Then when we are finished, we can take Bus #13 from Piazzale Michelangelo all the way back to Firenze S.M. Novella which is very close to our apartment.

Does this make sense for Day 2 (Monday)?

I suppose another option is to walk a little bit longer from Ponte Vecchio to Bus Stop Porto Romana and Take Bus #12 to Piazzale Michelangelo.

Or take a taxi up and walk back. It's less than a mile back to Ponte Vecchio.

Perhaps if someone in your party has a major interest in science they might consider the Museo Galileo/History of Science Museum?
Galileo's telescopes, instruments, fingers and the actual lens he used to discover the moons of Jupiter was a major "must see" for me but everyone has their own interests.

A taxi from the Duomo to Piazzale Michelangelo should run you between €15-18.

if I were going to take a cab, I'd take it up to San Miniato and walk back down past/through the Piazzale Roma [or the rose garden] back into the city.

You are so close, don't miss Museo Galileo. It is fascinating and (too often) over looked. Enjoy.

Just my 2 cents: we have been to Florence many times over the past 15 or so years and we have been to the Uffizi three or four times and have enjoyed it. The one consideration that you might make is that when you get home, everyone will ask, "Did you see the Uffizi?" While you might not care about this, I would probaby8 take the time to go.

Agree on the Accademia/Piazza San Marco comment. The frescoes are superb.

Second, I would take the taxi (or bus) up to Piazzale Michelangelo and then walk down. While Florence is an imminently walkable city, why waste energy when your time is limited?

Again, these are merely my opinions and if others disagree, so be it!

We taxied up to Piazzale Michelangelo and took bus 13 back down because service on bus 12 was curtailed due to a marathon. We thought the cost of the taxi well worth it on a Sunday about 11 a.m. The views are lovely but the best part of the day was going into San Miniato just as mass was ending and hearing about 20 minutes of Gregorian chant by the monks after the congregation had left. Once that was over we slipped a couple of euros in the boxes that illuminate the various parts of the church and were blown away by the mosaics and wall frescos. Gorgeous! And the view from the church is as great as from the Piazzale.
