itinerary: driving from Munich into Norther Italy, have 8days and no plan

Four of us will be driving from Munich down into Northern Italy. Looking for help on building an itinerary. Would love to go as far as Rapallo and see It Riviera. Worth it? or should we concentrate on Verona, Venice, Lake Garda region. Have eight days.

Dear Barbara,
I recommend you Italian Riviera Sanremo called the Flowers Riviera for its beautiful exotic flowers cultivations on the hills. Excellent seafood in the restaurants and very good climate.
Pls contact me if you need help.

From Munich, I think San Remo might just turn out to be a Freeway Too Far. Your own choice of Rapallo/Portofino is somewhat closer, and probably better.
Why don't you set off from Munich through Innsbruck, into Switzerland, and on to the Lake Lugano, Lake Como area, and then decide, dependant on the progress you are making, on whether to continue South to Rapallo/San Remo, or turn Eastwards to Verona, Venice and back through the Dolomites to Munich.
My guess is you'll choose the latter.

Absolutely agree with the above. To me San Remo is nothing much, but the lakes of Italy are lovely and Verona and Venice can't be beat. Also important--what time of year?

Next month (july)!
Are the Lakes better than the Italian Riviera? We probably won't go as far as San Remo but i was thinking a few days out of Rapallo or Portovenere.

If the Lakes are better maybe I should stick with them and also concentrate on Verona and maybe down to Bologna/Parma?

agree with Tony et al....Innsbruck is worth a stop if only to see how quaint it is, then it's a straight shot through the Brenner Pass to Italia!

From Munich, this is maybe 2 hours to IB and then another 60 minutes Italy.
