Itinerary advice

Hello Fodorites,

We are planning our itinerary for Ireland and for our first day out of Dublin we would like to drive south via Wiklow Mtns then on to Kilkenny and finally stay in Cahir or Cashel. Is this doable? I know that this itinerary will not do everything justice but is it possible just hitting the highlights?

Thank you for your help.

IMO a very (VERY) bad idea. That is a 4 hour drive plus stops. Assuming you just stop at Glendaough and Kilkenny it will still be at least 7 hours. After an overnight flight!? Are you planning on spending any time in Dublin at the end of your trip? If so . . . instead I'd move Dublin to the front end and be car-less for a couple of days in the city. Driving with jet lag or just general exhaustion is very dangerous.

I agree with Janisj its trying to pack in an awful lot into a trip. I would possibly look at other suggested itineraries offered by private companies and try do something similar yourself? At least then you'll have a good gauge of distance and what is doable.
