Italy's Lake Garda Building a 'Floating Bike Path'...
that will encircle one of Italy's most popular lakes and at many points cyclists will be pedaling riding right on or above the lake - and the path at places goes along sheer cliffs as seen in this video:
Anyway if planning a Lake Garda visit you may want to do at least a short bike ride on and over the lake.

We suggested this to a poster on another thread recently. Then we found out that only 2km of the eventual 140 km are now open. They say 2021 completion, but it wasn't clear if other sections will open over the next couple of years. The first 2 km is said to be so narrow and crowded with hikers that it is not sufficient for decent bike riding. But when it's all done, we can't wait to try it. In the meantime, Lake Garda is one of those Italian gems that is often overlooked in favor of Como.

Generally italian bike paths are either pretty wonderful or near to s@@t as it gets, often within a few km of each other. (I feel it wrong to say, so Italian, but hey). Lake Constance has had a bike pathall the way around since the 60s.
Every little bit helps and yes they will be covered by walkers, dog walkers, xylofone players, beer cans, prostitutes, puddles of yellow water and old matresses like everywhere else, but it will also be, eventually, wonderful.
