I'm going Sept. 30-Oct. 8. Rome/Florence/Venice. A quick trip but until I win the lotto my employer calls the shots on this one. My friend has never been to Italy so we opted for a 'sampler platter' over depth this time.

We are planning a trip in mid-September for two weeks and will be staying in Milan at the beginning and end of the trip. In between we will travel to Lake Como, Levanto and the Cinque Terre with a day trip to Lucca.

After 3 nights in Amstrerdam and before 5 nights in Paris:
3 nights Venice - Oct 16th-19th
3 nights Bologna - Oct 19th- 22nd
5/6 nights Florence - Oct 22nd - 27/28th. The number of nights depends on whether I fly or take the train to Paris.

Our daughter lives in Italy and-alas-I have to return several times this year. I plan to go May for 12 days with a friend (FF miles). My daughter lives in Rome, so we'll stay there with a side trip to Capri for a few days. My friend hasn't been there yet. Going again in August (also ff flight)-with my sister-in-law and joining the Italian vacationers on the coast of Tuscany. My husband and I are going again in late October-to Rome and to an as yet undetermined destination.
I must thank this board for all the info on planning previous trips: Venice and Dolomites in December, Sicily in November, Tuscany in October and Tropea in June. One year we took a cruise (our very 1st cruise) from Rome to Nice in October. We enjoyed seeing Elba and Corsica that time. We have enjoyed just setting out and finding places. I do lots of reading and research ahead of time and then book some places and just wing it for some. Most of our trips have been more "off-season", so we do have that luxury. We enjoy our times in Rome-family time-but still explore and enjoy showing off the city to new travelling companions.

Cinque Terre..3 nights mid-May I'm hoping to do some scuba-diving, snorkeling, or sailing, in addition to the traditional hiking.
