Italy--where to fly in and out?
My wife and I are planning a 9 day trip to Italy in Sept/Oct 2007--Rome, Florence, Venice. I checked some airlines and flying into Rome and out of Florence seems to have the best fares and times. Any reason not to do this--and to take the Eurostar train from Rome to Venice then from Venice to Florence? I know the train ride is about 4 1/2 hours between Rome and Venice but any other reasons?
In a perfect world flying tinot Rome then training to Florence and then to Venice and home would be better but flights out of Vencie seem to leave very very early.
Thanks.

Yes, many of the flights DO leave early out of Venice and it can often be a hassle getting from your hotel to the airport at 4 am. Going back to Florence would be backtracking, but it's not that long of a trip.
Did you look at flying into Venice and out of Rome? Rome offers some very nice flight times.
We'll be in Italy also during Sept/October for 3 weeks. We're flying into Milan and out of Rome.

Try all possible combinations, including Pisa (handy for Florence - as of late May 07 Delta will even have direct flights there from the US, I think from JFK but not sure), then pick the one that suits you best in all regards - price, ease of getting to-and-from, etc. www.kayak.com helps, use MultiCity feature.
