Oh, please..the only "shaft" the Americans got was when they lost.

Viajero2 Jul 4th, 2006 03:22 PM

I was in Italy in May 1994 when they qualified for the World Cup. The noise and celebration on the streets of Padova went on ALL NIGHT; can't even begin to imagine the celebration tonight. BRAVO!!! =D> ((B))

Dueky..

I went through it once before but there is no way the Americans should not have been seeded and the Mexicans were....

In the USA we have a college basketball tournament and they seed all 64 teams to make sure the groups are pretty equal irregardless of geography...it is interesting why almost every group in the World Cup has 2 European teams trying to ensure European teams get as good a chance as possible to advance.

Sometimes the truth hurts.

schuler,

dim.

Congrats Italy fans! They were the better team today. Two beautiful goals at the end. I think the Germans had a better overall performance in the whole cup, but they couldn't pull it off in the end. :(
Oh well, we shall see who wins tomorrow and who will get to play Italy this weekend.

girlonthego Jul 4th, 2006 04:01 PM

One funny note, we had some girls from our soccer team watching the game today. The girls were commenting on the cuteness of the players and the awesome colored cleats!:)

((u))

The German team and citizens should all take a collective bow for staging such a first class event.

DH was in the stadium in Dortmund tonight. Although the outcome was not what he had hoped for, he said he has no regrets and really is (was?) enjoying the atmosphere.

xyz - good grief...you've made your point...give it a rest!

schuler - it would be nice, though, for Zinedane Zedine to go out with a "bang" :-) Whatever....there are some great games ahead, no??

The 4th world cup victory after 1934, 1938 and 1982 is in reach of the "Squadra Azzura". Bravissimo!

Referee Benito Archundia from Mexico supremely controlled the game and disregarded all theatrics, the only one to judge 5 matches, a feat in itself.

DejaVu Jul 4th, 2006 04:33 PM

Forza Italia!!! What on earth will I do though if the final comes to Italy vs. France?? Choices, choices!

ps. I'm so in love with Fabio Cannavaro. Sigh.

xyx123-
Your comments about "Americans" would have fallen flat on it's face yesterday in the bar where I watched the game and in the streets outside after Italy's victory-
Open your eyes- things are changing out here in the world!

Good for Italy!!
As an American living in Italy I can say any enthusiasm for, say, a World Series is NOTHING compared to the passion the Italians have for the World Cup. It empassions everyone, young, old, men, women.
Apparently some anti-Italian German press called Italians "parasites" and "Mamma-lovers" and that really got the Italians fuming!!
YAY ITALY!!
DejaVu-Cannavaro is much cuter now that an esthetician got ahold of him and waxed his once HUGE monobrow!

logos999 Jul 5th, 2006 07:16 AM

>anti-Italian German press
You'll find lots of anti-Berlusconi press in Germany, but no anti-Italian press.

I dont see whats wrong to Love and respect your Mother.
She is the Angel of the House, the woman that gave you birth, and always loved you not matter what.
I wished that more men felt this way toward their Mothers. The WORLD would be a Better place.
