Italy: Tuscany in 2 days

My husband and I are doing a whirlwind trip of Italy. It's his first trip and my third. We are doing Milan, Rome, Sorrento, Almalfi, Capri and then Dubrovnik in Croatia. (Yes, I know, heard to do in 14 days - but I know we can do it.) We have 2 days alotted to Tuscany and I need to know what to focus on. I have been told to make sure I do Siena, but I wanted to get everyone's thoughts. Should I focus 2 days on Florence, or is there someowhere else that I HAVE to see?

jmusic, you'll ruin hubby with that plan! That's 7 places (counting Tuscany) in 14 days (or 12 if you haven't considered travel days on each end.) Sincerely, don't do it. Yes, I believe you can visit 7 places in 2 days but you'll see little and will constantly be thinking about the next leg of the trip. You won't have any tine to relax and just 'be'. If you've been 2x before, why can't you slow it down a bit so hubby can really enjoy? You want him to return with you, right?

If I can't convince you to cut about 4 of those cities from the itinerary, then allow me to suggest you buy a guide book and read up on Tuscany. 2 days won't do Florence justice but it's a start. There are so many wonderful towns in Tuscany but you might consider giving both days to Florence and forget the rest this trip.

Do the 5 citys (forget Florence this trip )the 5 citys are much more fun with all the little streets and cafes perched on the water really a beautiful sight. .

Why add anything else to this itinerary? Yes, you are sure you can do it, but why would you want to? Are you actually staying in each of the places you mention above, or are Sorrento, Amalfi and Capri all a part of one place you are staying (Sorrento with day trips to Amalfi and Capri)?

Can you do an itinerary for us, showing where you will be each night? It might help.

Thank you for the responses. I should have clarified a little more. We fly into Milan but then are jumping on a train to Tuscany. I'm trying to figure out if I stay in Florence or Siena. (I've gotten opinions on both). We will be there for 2 nights and then head down to Rome for 2 nights. Following that we will be in Sorrento for 3 nights (with small excursions to Capri and Amalfi.) We will then take a train to Bari and hop an overnight ferri to Dubrovnik. After returning from Dubrovnik we will head straight to Milan to see some family before flying home. I do know it's a lot, but I'm not worried about getting everything in. I just need advise on which city in Tuscany to stay in.

"I just need advise on which city in Tuscany to stay in."

Since you are moving so fast, to maixmize your limited time, I recommend staying your 2 nights in Florence . It is much easier and faster to travel to/from Florence than Siena.

Enjoy your trip!
