Italy-trip help!
My fiance and I have been thinking of taking our honeymoon in Italy. We were thiking of Rome for 3 days then the Amalfi coast(Ravello, Positano, Capri, or Ischia). Or Rome for 3 days then the Aeolian Islands. I have heard such opposing reviews of Le Sirenuse, Il San Pietro , Hotel Palazzo Sasso and hotels like this in the Amalfi Coast. I am having a hard time finding any review information for the Aeolian islands as well.
Any hotel/destination suggestions would be very appreciated! |
Is your budget unlimited (you did mention Le Sirenuse) or do you have a hotel limit? Are you looking for just relaxing - or also some activities?
|
I should have mentioned that since I know Le Sirenuse is very expensive! Our total budget is around $10-12K we have saved up and our using miles for our flights. We would like a combination of being able to relax but also having some sightseeing/activities. That is why we were thinking of Rome at the beginning of the trip. I have actually been to Italy before but my fiance has never been so I do want him to be able to see some of the sights, etc. Thanks

I would do the relaxing part of your trip first, then wind up in Rome. After the stress of planning the wedding, it would be nice to not rush around a big city taking in the sights. You will probably have a flight out of Rome so getting to the airport would be easier also, rather than worrying about getting there from the Amalfi Coast or the Aeolian Islands. The Hotel Raya on Panarea is the most luxurious hotel on the Aeolian Islands but it pales in comparison to the Sirenuese, which, if you can afford it, is a perfect honeymoon hotel.

Thanks for the info, I had someone suggest Lipari to me (Aeolian Islans) and finishing up in Sicily (Taormina) at the Grand Hotel Timeo, any comments on these areas?
Thanks! |
