Italy - Trieste

My husband and I will travel together in Italy in the Fall. To those of you familiar with Trieste, I'm looking for a place to spend 2 weeks studying Italian after my husband returns to the USA. Is Trieste a safe place for a woman walking alone after dark - from concerts, restaurants, shopping, etc? I have not, as yet, looked into schools in Trieste but most cities and towns have language schools so if I pick the city I'm sure I'll find a school. I just need to find a comfortable city! Last year it was perfect - Siena. Thanks for help.

Am I losing it or have you already posted this question? I thought I replied!!??

I found it under "Quiet Corner in Trieste"! Here was my response:

How about Perugia?

Also, do a search on Fodor's-AnnHig and others have studied.
