ITALY Trenitalia Reservation Change
Author: slowtrav1

Hello - I am posting this again since I received no responses to this morning's desperate cry for help. I am sure there are users here who know the trenitalia system inside out.
I have online reservations from Pisa to Firenze and now I need to change the date and time. Although Trenitalia's online service has a link to reservation changes it asks for a RESERVATION CHANGE CODE (CP) that I have not been given. I have the PNR (reservation code) only. So I am unable to change my reservations using the internet. Pleeeassse help.

It is unusual for anyone to actually reserve a train on this route--it is condiered more of a commuter connection.
On what type of train are you traveling? If it is anything less than ES (for example, IC or R), you can just get on another IC or R for that same destination without a new reservation, though you won't have a reserved seat. (Reservations are usually an extra fee on that type of train.) I can't imagine that this route would be completely filled.
What kind of ticket did you buy? For what kind of train?

Hi slow,
According to Trenitalia
" To change date and time of the reservation for your Eurostar tickets you have to use the Reservation Code (PNR) and the Booking Change Code (CP) that are printed on your tickets (see examples) or that were sent to you by E-mail at the time of the purchase".
As far as I know, the only trains between Florence and Pisa are "R" trains that don't have reserved seating.
Your tickets should be good for any train on any date.
Be sure to punch the ticket before getting on the train.

The ticket I purchased has a R sign so it's a regional train. I was trying to avoid having to explain in a different language where i needed to go at what time - the very day I was going to land in Pisa.
I guess I will work on changing this as soon as I arrive in Pisa.

ST - Does your ticket show reserved seats?
As Ellen & Ira say, you can't normally reserve seats on Regional trains - so you don't have a problem. Don't forget to validate it before boarding ...

Dear Slow,
Your ticket is good on any train, on any day.
Do you have a reserved seat? If so it will give a train number, a car number and a seat number.
You can change your seat reservation for about 3E. However, it's only a 1:20 hr ride and trains leave every 1/2 hr.
Stop worrying.
