Italy transport
Hi all.
It will be my first time in Italy. I will need to travel from Bologna Airport to Cervia, which is approximately 1h05 by car, and 2,5 hrs by train. And 3 hours by bus due to all of the stops unfortunately. It will be completely the other side of the road to what I'm used to. Would you recommend a bus, train or attempting to rent a car and drive? Don't understand any Italian either just yet, so wouldn't know any road instructions. I will only be in Italy for 3 days visiting friends, so not it sure if it will be worth renting a car as we will spend most of the time on the beach. |
By the time you get squared away with your car rental and deal with Bologna's considerable peripheral traffic, your 1h05 is going to turn into something closer to 2h, and at the point I don't think the "convenience" of a car is worth it, especially since you don't need one at your destination.
I prefer train travel over bus travel, so I would get to the train station and head onward. However, one other that might exist (I think it has in the past, but am not sure it still does): If there is a direct bus from Bologna Marconi airport to Forli airport, you might see if that works for you. From Forli airport there might be a bus to Cervia, or it might be that a taxi ride is affordable (especially if you had been thinking of renting a car). |
Actually, it just occurred to me that maybe the fastest way to go is to take a bus from Bologna Marconi airport non-stop to Ravenna airport, and then a taxi from there.

If your friends in Cervia will have a car, it might be reasonable for them to meet you in Ravenna.

Or Bologna?
