To second the replies of a couple of posters, I also thought the Corso was a fine stay.
Much more enthusiastically, I highly recommend the Etruscan restaurant. One of our best dining experiences in all of Italy. Then, when you walk out after dinner and walk down the narrow street, you will suddenly come into the big Palazzo fronting the Duomo, and it is spectacular at night with the lights shining up on it.

Question!
Finalizing trip plans I have booked the Rome leg and the Venice leg of the trip and have 8 nights in Bologna at a relitives place(only us).
WOuld you recommend this city for a one day/night get away for the "romantic" also for the food or would you recomend another place for that "special occasion" with view and dinner?

The following information may no longer be relevant regarding rental car return in Orvieto (but if it is, it could spare you some anxiety):
When we were in Umbria last September, the Avis office in Orvieto had closed, but since AutoEurope had accepted our reservations much earlier they arranged for Avis staff person from Terni to meet us as the Orvieto train station to reclaim the Avis car - the young lady made it with at least 10 minutes to spare (i.e., before our train to Rome got to the station), but by then I had a few more gray hairs than before. By now, maybe one can only rent from Hertz in Orvieto, which would be fine since their office is practically next door to the train station.
