Italy Procrastinating student Plane Ticket
 

In the off-chance that someone else knows a procrastinating student who needs a one-way ticket back to the States from Florence for the Holidays...can you recommend an inexpensive way back?

Florence to NYC would be the itinerary between the 18th and 23rd of December

Air France should be roundtrip tickets for about US$782. Throw away the return.

Have you tried STA Travel? I received an email that says RT to Italy is under $200. I did not check it out and I don't know about one way.

I checked it out.

They don't sell tickets from Italy.

They offer a RT NYC to FLR or PSA for about $800.

There's no harm in calling the STA office in the UK even if there's no office in Italy. I'm pretty sure that there're a few in London.

In the US they offer student discounts and discounts to academics and to folks under 35. You can call the UK one and check their prices and see if they can issue you a ticket if the price is right. (I don't see why not, personally, as the ticket will be issued in Europe for a flight from Europe to the US.)

I've read that tickets purchased in Europe are often far cheaper than tickets purchased in the US.

Bought a ticket for $580 FLR to JFK on Delta/Alitalia through Milan.

Will Delta pilot strike affect international flights?

I've been traveling during strikes and was just rerouted to another carrier (although much later). I expect the same would happen here.

DL pilots won't be striking that soon, if they do strike. The judge's ruling won't come until next week, and there should be a 30-day cooling period. Your kid should be home by then.

But if pilots do strike, yes, they'll strike everything, and DL will be finished. Period.
